Dave Light began their career in law enforcement with the Norwalk Police Department in September 1984. Dave served as the Chief of Police until February 2018. In January 2020, Dave Light transitioned to a new role as the Mayor of the City of Norwalk, Ohio.

Norwalk is a full service City which offers a small town feel with top-notch public services for approximately 17,000 residents. City staff take pride in seeking the input of stakeholders while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service. Norwalk is a charter city with 126 full-time public servants and 140 part-time positions. Under the leadership of Mayor Rob Duncan and City Council, our community is undertaking exciting projects to improve quality of life including: completion of the pleasant street wastewater lift station; construction of a new fire station; development of a splash pad at the Ersthausen Aquatic Center; planning for a multi-use trail through town; water treatment plant upgrades; fundraising for an amphitheater at Veterans Memorial Park; and widespread street resurfacing. Located halfway between Toledo and Cleveland, Fisher Titus Medical Center is the largest local employer and Norwalk is home to many family-owned construction companies. Key trade clusters within the micropolitan area include food processing and manufacturing, production technology and heavy machinery, printing services, plastics, and distribution and electronic commerce.
