Food Systems Program Manager at City of Phoenix

Maddie Mercer, MSUS, currently serves as the Food Systems Program Manager for the City of Phoenix, a position held since August 2024. Previously, Maddie was the Neighborhood Resilience Program Coordinator for the City of Tempe, where key initiatives included administering a USDA planning grant and launching a food waste mitigation pilot program. Maddie has also contributed significantly as a Social Innovation Fellow at Arizona State University, working on projects aimed at enhancing economic and educational opportunities, as well as researching sustainable food enterprises in the role of Graduate Student Researcher at the Sustainable Food Economies Lab. Additional experience includes urban farming and research with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, alongside various roles at ASU focused on sustainability education and consulting. Maddie holds a Master of Sustainability Solutions, a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, all from Arizona State University.
