Shelby Ruth O'Brien has a diverse work experience starting in 2014 as an intern for State Representative Todd Hunter. Shelby Ruth then worked as a Legislative Staff member for Texas State Representative Todd Hunter from 2015 to 2017. After that, they served as a Community Outreach Coordinator for Texas General Land Office from 2017 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020, they worked as an Outreach Specialist at EASi, LLC. Currently, since March 2020, they are working as a Public Information Officer at the City of Portland, Texas, and from April 2021, they have also assumed the role of Director of Communications & Marketing.
Shelby Ruth O'Brien obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Homeland Security at the same university, graduating in 2016.
