Vernon Tillage

Vernon Tillage currently serves as a City Council Member for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, since January 2023, and holds the position of Community Affairs Coordinator for Virginia Natural Gas, beginning in November 2021. Tillage's previous roles include serving as a School Board Member for Portsmouth Public Schools from January 2021 to December 2022, Outreach and Advocacy Consultant at Hampton Roads Alliance from September 2019 to November 2021, and Outreach Representative for the United States Senate between April 2019 and August 2019. Prior experience also includes serving as Chief of Staff for the Commonwealth of Virginia from January 2017 to March 2019, Deputy Clerk at Portsmouth Circuit Court from September 2016 to January 2017, and School Bus Driver for Portsmouth Public Schools from February 2013 to January 2017. Tillage holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Government from Old Dominion University and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree at the same institution.
