Richard Wilson is a seasoned law enforcement professional with extensive experience in various roles within the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, serving since March 1994. Currently holding the position of Operations Captain, Richard oversees the Patrol and Detective Divisions, as well as the Emergency Services Unit, traffic division, vehicle fleet, and police K9 operations. Previous roles include Lieutenant in the Patrol Division and Sergeant in both the Neighborhood Recovery Unit and Community Policing, where Richard led efforts in investigating narcotics and addressing quality of life issues. Additionally, Richard has experience as a police dispatcher and direct public housing site security, applying CPTED principles. From January 1997 to December 2015, Richard served in various leadership capacities including President of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Benevolent Association, engaging in labor relations and contract negotiations. Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs from Empire State University, obtained in September 2023.
