Russell Nelson, M.A., MCIP, RPP, is an experienced urban planner currently serving as Program Manager for Policy Planning at the City of Richmond since August 2023. Previously, Russell held the position of Senior Long Range Planner at the Township of Langley from August 2015 to August 2022, along with roles including City Planner II at the City of Coquitlam from 2005 to 2015 and Community Planner at the City of Blaine, WA, from 2001 to 2005. Early career experience includes work as a Planning Assistant at the City of Coquitlam from 1998 to 2001. Russell's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Urban Planning from The University of British Columbia, a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Community Economic Development, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography, both from Simon Fraser University, as well as a Certificate in Executive Leadership from Royal Roads University obtained between 2018 and 2021.
