Thurgood Brooks

Thurgood Brooks is a skilled leader and advocate with extensive experience in community coordination and sports coaching. Currently serving as the West End Revitalization Coordinator for the City of Rock Island since January 2018, Thurgood effectively manages a diverse team to finalize strategic plans and foster community engagement. Thurgood’s background includes roles as a Family Advocate, Defensive Back Coach for the Quad City Steamwheelers, and Assistant Football Coach at Rock Island High School, where accolades include being named Assistant Coach of the Year twice. Additionally, Thurgood has engaged in political campaigns as a candidate for Illinois State Representative and Mayor of Rock Island, showcasing a strong commitment to public service and grassroots mobilization. Thurgood holds a Bachelor's degree in History with a Political Science minor from Western Illinois University.
