Sharlan Douglas has extensive experience in public service and community engagement, currently serving as City Commissioner for the City of Royal Oak since November 2013. In addition to this role, Sharlan Douglas is the President of Douglas Communications Group since January 2006 and has been involved with the Michigan Association of Planning as Vice President since January 2005. Sharlan Douglas has also held positions on the Royal Oak Planning Commission and as a board member for the Michigan Association of Planning. Active in various organizations, Sharlan Douglas is a member of the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce, Tech Town, Stagecrafters, and Grosse Pointe Theatre, and is a graduate of Leadership Detroit.
