Gary Buxton

Gary Buxton is an experienced planning and community services professional with a comprehensive background in municipal infrastructure and community development. Currently serving as the Director of Planning & Community Services at the City of Salmon Arm since March 2023, Gary previously held the position of General Manager of Community Planning and Infrastructure at the District of Squamish from December 2014 to January 2023, where supervision included various departments such as Sustainability and Economic Development. Prior to this role, Gary served as General Manager of Municipal Infrastructure in the Town of Canmore from April 2001 to December 2014, managing multiple departments including Planning and Public Works. Gary's career in planning began at the Town of Brooks as Manager of Planning and Development from April 1997 to April 1998. Gary holds a Master of Environmental Design in Planning from the University of Calgary, earned between 1990 and 1994.
