Josephine Valencia

Deputy Director, Solid Waste Management at City of San Antonio

Josephine Valencia is an accomplished professional in solid waste management, currently serving as the Deputy Director for the City of San Antonio since December 2010, overseeing fiscal operations, safety programs, and outreach initiatives. Prior to this role, Josephine held various positions including Assistant Director at the City of San Antonio, where responsibilities included managing curbside collections and environmental compliance, and Disposal Manager for the City of Durham, where the first compost facility in North Carolina was established. Josephine has also contributed as a faculty member for SWANA, teaching certification courses in collections, recycling, and transfer stations. With a strong foundation in public policy and administration from Carnegie Mellon University and Baruch College, Josephine has built a diverse career across several government agencies, including roles as Recycling Coordinator and Solid Waste Specialist.
