Richard Beckman

Fire Division Chief at City of San Gabriel

Richard Beckman has extensive work experience in the field of firefighting. Richard started their career in 1981 at the La Habra Heights Fire Department, where they worked as a Firefighter and progressed to the role of Division Chief/Fire Marshal. In 1988, they joined Rio Hondo College as a Fire Academy Senior Drillmaster, where they coordinated the Firefighter 1 academy and served as the Interim Fire Technology Coordinator for 2 1/2 years. In 2001, Beckman joined the City of San Gabriel, where they currently hold the position of Fire Division Chief.

Richard Beckman attended La Habra High School. After completing high school, they enrolled at Rio Hondo College in 1982 and obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Fire Prevention and Safety Technology/Technician in 1992. Richard then pursued further education at California State University, Los Angeles, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Fire Protection Administration and Technology, graduating in 2002. In addition to their university education, Richard attended the National Fire Academy from 1997 to 2000, focusing on Executive Development / Fire Service.
