Domingo Candelas

Domingo Candelas currently serves as a City Councilmember for District 8 in the City of San José, a position held since January 2023. Prior to this role, Candelas was the Director of Local Government Affairs at Stanford University from November 2021 to January 2023, and held various positions in Local Government Affairs at Valley Water from July 2019 to October 2021. Candelas gained significant experience in government relations while working for the California State Senate from December 2012 to July 2019, where responsibilities included District Director, Deputy District Director, and Senior Field Representative. Earlier roles included serving as Director of Hispanic/Latino Outreach for Jim Beall's State Senate campaign and as a Recreation Assistant for the City of San José. Candelas holds a Master of Public Administration from San José State University and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from the same institution.
