Abel Pineda

Abel Pineda currently serves as the Northern California Regional Liaison for State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond at the California Department of Education since February 2020. Additionally, Abel Pineda has been a City Council Member of San Pablo since January 2019, holding the position of Mayor in 2023 and Vice Mayor in 2022. Pineda has been actively involved in various committees, including the Community Services Standing Committee and the COVID-19 San Pablo City Council Ad-Hoc Subcommittee. With a background in legislative affairs as a Principal Field Representative in the California State Assembly for Assemblyman Rob Bonta and Assemblyman Tony Thurmond from 2015 to 2020, Pineda brings extensive experience in community engagement and policy development. Pineda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
