Robert Taggart has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of firefighting and emergency response. Robert started their career as a Loss Prevention Manager at JCPenney in 1996 and worked there until 1999. In the same year, they joined the Ruston Fire Department as a Firefighter EMT and later moved to the Bossier City Fire Department in 1999. After their stint there, they joined the Shreveport Fire Department in 2000, where they held various positions such as Firefighter Paramedic, Fire Engineer, and Training Officer. In 2012, they briefly worked as an EMS Supervisor at Caddo Parish Fire District 5 before joining the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal in 2017 as a Lead Evaluator. Robert also serves as an Executive Board Member for Local 514 at the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), starting from 2020. Robert recently joined the City of Shreveport as the Chief of ARFF in 2023, where they currently hold the position.

Robert Taggart A.M.F has a strong educational background in crisis/emergency/disaster management and fire science/firefighting. In 2016, they earned an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Fire Science/Firefighting from Louisiana State University Eunice. Robert continued their education at Eastern New Mexico University, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from 2019 to 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Robert has obtained numerous certifications related to fire service and emergency response. Robert completed a Training Program Management course from the U.S. Fire Administration in October 2022. In December 2021, they obtained certifications as a Confined Space Rescue Technician I II and Rope Rescue Technician I II from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress.

In October 2021, Robert obtained the New Executive Chief Officer certification from the U.S. Fire Administration. Robert also earned a Certified Fire Inspector II (CFI-II) certification from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress in September 2021. In 2021, they achieved Facility Fire Brigade Member certifications in Interior Structural (June), Advanced Exterior (May), and Incipient (April) from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress.

Other notable certifications include Fire Officer IV from the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards & Education Commission (March 2020), Airport Master Firefighter from AAAE (January 2020), Fire Service Financial Management from the U.S. Fire Administration (June 2019), and Advanced Hazardous Materials Technician from the Louisiana State Police (June 2018).

Robert also holds certifications in Airport Firefighter (September 2017), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor (January 2017), EMS Educator/Evaluator (January 2017), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor (January 2017) from various reputable institutions. Furthermore, they obtained certifications in Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply (December 2016), Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator - Aerial (November 2016), Hazardous Materials Incident Commander (November 2016), and Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator - Pumper (October 2016) from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress.
