Kate Hartke

Kate Hartke serves as the Director of Grants and External Funds for the City of Somerville since June 2013, overseeing the fiscal management, budgeting, and compliance for an allocation of $77.5 million under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). In addition, Kate manages the grant proposal process, securing an average of $7-10 million annually for the city by collaborating with various departments and the Mayor's Office to explore funding opportunities. Prior experience includes roles as Project Editor at America's Test Kitchen, Managing Editor at The Pohly Company, Assistant Editor at Red Wheel/Weiser, and Associate Project Editor at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, with a focus on project management, budget oversight, and content development. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Business Studies from Providence College.
