Taj Suleyman

Taj Suleyman has a diverse range of work experience. They are currently the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the City of Springfield, Missouri. Prior to this, Taj worked as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Dubuque from 2017 to 2021. They also served as the Equity Director at the Dubuque Community School District from 2019 to 2021, where they focused on implementing equity frameworks and developing intercultural communication workshops. Taj has worked with various organizations, including the Intercultural Communication Institute, the Office of Equity and Human Rights for the City of Portland, the Center for Intercultural Organizing, Catholic Community Services, the Utah Department of Workforce Services, and the Asian Association of Utah. Their roles in these organizations ranged from Fellow to Project Manager/Community Organizer and involved tasks such as facilitating integration programs for refugees, providing job coaching, and developing employment plans. Taj's extensive experience and expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion make them a valuable asset in the field.

Taj Suleyman began their education journey in 2006 at the University of Utah, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in International Studies. They attended the university until 2008 before progressing further in their academic pursuits.

In 2011, Taj Suleyman enrolled at the University of the Pacific to pursue a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Intercultural Relations. They dedicated three years to their studies and successfully completed their degree in 2014.

Apart from their formal education, Taj Suleyman has also obtained several certifications to enhance their skill set. In January 2002, they obtained certification as a Certified Medical Interpreter with the State of Utah Health Department through the Bridging the Gap program offered by the Utah Department of Health. This certification highlights their proficiency in facilitating communication between healthcare providers and patients.

In December 2016, Taj Suleyman became a Connective Leadership Associate Facilitator after completing the associated program offered by the Connective Leadership Institute. This certification indicates their competence in facilitating collaborative and inclusive leadership practices.

Most recently, in January 2021, Taj Suleyman achieved the Certified Trainer - Global Dexterity Method certification from Personal Change Systems LLC. This certification signifies their expertise as a trainer in the Global Dexterity Method, a program focused on developing intercultural agility and effectiveness.

Collectively, Taj Suleyman's educational background and certifications demonstrate their dedication to intercultural relations, international studies, interpretation in healthcare settings, and facilitative leadership practices.
