Demetrius Bynes Sphr, Shrm-Scp

Demetrius Bynes, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, has a comprehensive work experience in human resources. Most recently, they served as the Director of Human Resources for the City of Statesboro since November 2019. Prior to that, they held various roles at Georgia Southern University from 2006 to 2019, including Director of Talent Acquisition, where they designed and developed the university's talent acquisition program and partnered with stakeholders to develop the employment brand. Demetrius also worked as an Adjunct Instructor at the university, teaching courses on current issues in the work environment and compensation and benefits. Before their time at the university, Demetrius worked as a Benefits Manager at Beaufort County, overseeing the benefits program for active employees, COBRA participants, and retirees. Demetrius also held the position of Benefits & Compensation Administrator, managing the county's self-insured benefits program and coordinating the benefits renewal and open enrollment processes. Demetrius also worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Ogeechee Technical College, teaching courses on human resource management and organizational behavior. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management with an emphasis in Human Resource Management, also from Georgia Southern University. Demetrius has obtained two additional certifications, namely the Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from SHRM in January 2015 and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from HR Certification Institute - HRCI in June 2014.
