Derek Stoddard

Derek Stoddard has extensive experience in the firefighting and public safety sector, currently serving as a Company Officer (Captain) for the City of Statesboro since January 2008, with previous roles as Lieutenant and Firefighter. Responsibilities include overseeing emergency response operations, implementing departmental goals, conducting training, and leading community outreach initiatives. Stoddard has also acted as the Fire Department Public Information Officer, managing communications and media relations. Special projects include creating community programs such as the "Up in Flames" event and establishing outreach campaigns for public safety. Earlier career experience includes admissions recruitment roles at Georgia Southern University and Ogeechee Technical College. Derek Stoddard holds a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Film & Production from Georgia Southern University and an Associate of Science in Fire Science/Fire-fighting from Ogeechee Technical College.
