Andrea Austen

Director

Andrea Austen has extensive experience in public service, particularly in senior management roles at the City of Toronto since October 2003, where current positions include Director of Seniors Services and Community Programs. Key contributions include the development of the Toronto Seniors Strategy, the City's Approach to Vulnerability, and the SPIDER program, alongside enhancing services for vulnerable populations. During a secondment at Toronto Community Housing from December 2013 to December 2014, Austen secured $2.5 million in funding for on-site services aimed at assisting vulnerable residents. Previous roles also include a Policy Analyst at the City Of Hamilton, where Austen led the Supporting Community Partnerships Initiative to tackle homelessness, and serving as a University Lecturer in Philosophy at York University and Ryerson University. Educational qualifications include a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from York University.
