Timothy McGourthy

Timothy McGourthy has had an extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Timothy currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at the City of Worcester since 2020. Prior to this role, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Clark University from 2014 to 2020. In 2020, they were also the Interim President & CEO at the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. McGourthy served as the Deputy Secretary at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development from 2019 to 2020. Timothy was the Executive Director at Worcester Regional Research Bureau from 2014 to 2019. Timothy held the position of Chief Development Officer at the City of Worcester from 2006 to 2014. Their earlier experience includes being the Director of Policy at the Boston Redevelopment Authority from 1999 to 2006, and a Research Assistant at Carnegie Corporation of New York from 1993 to 1997.

Timothy McGourthy has a strong educational background that includes the completion of various degrees at esteemed institutions. Timothy began their educational journey at William & Mary, where they earned an AB degree in History from 1990 to 1993. Timothy then pursued further studies at The Johns Hopkins University, completing their MA in Government between 1994 and 1997. Finally, Timothy attended the Harvard Kennedy School from 1997 to 1999, earning an MPP/UP degree with a specialization in Public Policy & Urban Planning.
