Maria Z Zayas Carnes has extensive work experience in finance and operations. Maria Z currently holds the role of Vice President of Finance and Operations at the Latino Community Foundation, starting in May 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the W.M. KECK Foundation as a Controller from March 2011 to May 2021. In this role, they managed various operational functions and was responsible for overseeing a budget of $70 million. Before joining the foundation, Maria was a Partner at George H. McCrimlisk & Company, a personal financial services firm. During their time there from September 2004 to March 2011, they provided wealth management advice to high-net-worth clients and handled tax compliance for multiple clients.
Maria Z Zayas Carnes holds a Dual Degree in MBA and Master of Latin America Studies from The University of New Mexico. Maria Z also obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Accounting from the same university. Additionally, Maria has certifications as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) from the CFP Board and as a Certified Public Accountant from both the California Board of Accountancy and the New Mexico Public Accountancy Board.
