Brian Ritter has extensive experience in fire and emergency management, currently serving as Assistant Fire Chief and Shift Commander at Wylie Fire Rescue since May 2001. Prior roles include Battalion Chief focusing on fire rescue operations and Fire Captain, where responsibilities encompassed budgeting, personnel management, and emergency response. Brian's earlier experience includes serving as Fire Lieutenant and EMS Lieutenant, as well as a Firefighter/Driver Engineer with the City of Lancaster, where promotion to Driver Engineer occurred in 2004. Additional experience includes part-time firefighting with the City of Red Oak. Brian holds a BAAS in Emergency Management Administration from West Texas A&M University and has completed a Fire Service Chief Executive Officer program at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University.

The Mayor and Council are elected at-large, which means they represent the entire city and all registered voters may vote for all seven places. Following each election, the Council selects a fellow Council member to serve as Mayor ProTem.
