Bernadette Austin

Bernadette Austin currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of CivicWell since March 2023, focusing on sustainable policies and civic leadership. In addition to this role, Bernadette is the Co-Chair of the Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee at the California Department of Public Health and a Board Member at SAFE Credit Union and Girl Scouts Heart of Central California. Bernadette also holds the position of President at the California Planning Roundtable and serves as an Executive Committee Member for Path to Positive Communities. Previously, Bernadette co-led the Sacramento Area Chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network and was the Executive Director of the Center for Regional Change at UC Davis. Bernadette founded Bernadette Austin Consulting Services, which specialized in community development, and has been involved with the Urban Land Institute. Bernadette holds a Master’s degree in Community Development from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health from Saint Mary's College of California.
