The Chaplain Corps of the Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, is the home of volunteer ordained Chaplains and Character Development Instructors. CAP has a vital interest in the moral development, and spiritual welfare and resilience of its members. The CAP chaplaincy is an organization of clergy who are appointed and endorsed as CAP chaplains. They represent their various denominations and support the pluralistic ministry of the CAP Chaplain Corps. Character Development Instructors are the moral guides for the CAP cadet program. The CAP Chaplain Corps College offers professional training and education, a new journal, and academic opportunities to advance personal and professional competencies. The college's think tank, the Center for Religion, Ethics, and Excellence in Leadership (CREEL) provides opportunities for creative development of curriculum across multiple mediums. The Chaplain Emergency Services School (ChESS) is part of CAP's National Emergency Services Academy (NESA) which provides opportunities to support local crisis situations and national disaster responses.
