Aly Goodwin Gregg has extensive experience in communications and leadership roles. Aly started their career at The Greenbrier as a Manager of Public Relations and Special Projects. Aly then worked at various companies such as Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing, RMS Strategies, and Goodwin-Gregg LLC, where they held positions like Communications Manager and Account Manager. In 2006, they joined Charles Ryan Associates as the Executive Vice President, and later transitioned to MVB Financial Corp as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Chief Marketing Officer. Aly later became the Managing Partner at both Business Uplifted and GuardianBridge LLC. In 2017, they began working at Civil-Military Innovation Institute Inc. as the Vice President and Director of Communications. Currently, Aly is at NSIN - National Security Innovation Network, where they have held roles such as Acting Director of Communications, Deputy Director of Communications, and Director of Internal Communications.
Aly Goodwin Gregg obtained a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from West Virginia University from 1991 to 1994. Prior to that, they attended Randolph College from 1990 to 1991, although no specific degree or field of study was mentioned. Additionally, Aly Goodwin Gregg has obtained various certifications, including a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB™) from the International Six Sigma Institute™, which they received in April 2020. Aly also completed the PRSA Crisis Communication Certificate Program from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 2017.

Creating an Innovation Workforce CMI2, the Civil-Military Innovation Institute, bridges the gaps in defense innovation, creating functional solutions to support the warfighter with immediate impact and effect. We call it ‘Innovation in the Dirt,’ a frontline approach to fostering military modernization. Offering senior military management expertise, university innovation executive management, and commercial research management capabilities, CMI2 supports creating and utilizing a dynamic civil-military innovation workforce in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense and public safety communities. Building close relationships with military units and service members to understand requirements is a cornerstone of our work, so CMI2 team members are embedded with Soldiers and warfighters at installations across the nation. Our Mission: We foster innovation through direct and constant collaboration between service members and researchers, creating solutions designed to fit warfighters’ needs from the beginning.
