Mukundan Chakrapani

Mukundan Chakrapani has extensive work experience in the field of intellectual property (IP) management and patent law. Mukundan currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Product and Portfolio Development at Clairvolex, an IP services company. In this role, Mukundan serves as a subject matter expert and works on the development of the LEAP-IP suite of products. Mukundan also promotes the adoption of technology-enabled services in the IP industry to enhance productivity and profitability. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice President of IP Asset Management at Clairvolex, where they were responsible for managing IP assets and implementing a model focused on the entire asset life cycle.

Before joining Clairvolex, Mukundan worked as a Director in the IP Division of Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan (L&S), where they oversaw patent drafting and prosecution work. During their time at L&S, they actively participated in business development initiatives and contributed to the firm's growth in North America and Europe. Additionally, Mukundan wrote and lectured extensively on patent practice and the IP landscape in India, with a special emphasis on computer-related inventions.

Prior to their role at L&S, Mukundan worked as an Associate, Lawyer, and Patent Agent at Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) LLP. Mukundan gained significant experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in various technology areas while also providing strategic patent counseling to domestic and international clients. Mukundan was also involved in community engagement programs such as the BLG Reads to Kids program and the United Way Community Action Days as a volunteer.

Mukundan started their career as a Patent Agent Trainee at G. Ronald Bell and Associates before moving on to work as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the National Research Council Canada. Overall, Mukundan Chakrapani has a diverse and in-depth background in IP management and patent law, with extensive experience in various roles and responsibilities.

Mukundan Chakrapani's education history begins with their completion of a Secondary School Diploma in the Science Stream from Kendriya Vidyalaya between 1980 and 1990. Mukundan then went on to obtain a High School Diploma in the Science Stream from D.A.V. Higher Secondary School from 1990 to 1992. Moving forward, Mukundan pursued a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics at Madras Christian College from 1992 to 1997. After this, they attended Florida State University from 1997 to 2002, where they earned both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics. Lastly, from 2010 to 2013, Mukundan obtained a J.D. in Common Law from the University of Ottawa.
