James Barlament

James Barlament has a diverse work experience spanning from 2005 to the present day. James'scurrent role is the Executive Director of Innovation, Strategy, and Governance at the Clarke County School District, which they started in July 2022. Before that, they worked as the Director of Data & Research at the same district from January 2020 to July 2022, where they received recognition as a Top 100 Data and Analytics Professional Award Winner. From February 2018 to January 2020, they held the position of Director of Assessment & Accountability, overseeing assessment systems and data reporting. Prior to that, as the Charter System Director from July 2016 to February 2018, they led the implementation of the charter system in Clarke County and increased community and parent involvement in school decisions. From July 2013 to June 2016, they served as the Coordinator of Grants and Research, developing and managing grant applications that resulted in over $12 million in awarded funds.

Before joining the Clarke County School District, Barlament worked at the University of Georgia as a Research Professional III from August 2006 to July 2013, evaluating public health programs and analyzing public health data. James also worked at the New Georgia Encyclopedia as a Writer from September 2005 to August 2007, creating original articles on Georgia history, religion, culture, sports, and education. Additionally, they worked at the Georgia Center for Assessment as an Educational Program Specialist from July 2005 to June 2006, interpreting scoring guidelines for Georgia Writing Tests and participating in field tests.

James Barlament completed their education at the University of Georgia. James obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from 1998 to 2002. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology from 2003 to 2005. Prior to their university studies, they attended Liberty County High School from 1994 to 1998, though no degree or field of study is specified for this period.
