Brenda Barnes

Brenda Barnes is a seasoned leader in the nonprofit and broadcasting sectors, currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of Classical KING FM 98.1 since January 2018, where Brenda has successfully spearheaded a $6 million campaign for the station's relocation and digital innovation. In addition to this role, Brenda serves as Digital Community Lead for the Joe Biden for North Carolina campaign since September 2020 and has held influential positions on the Board of Directors at various organizations, including Station Resource Group and NPR, where Brenda contributed significantly to strategic transitions. Brenda's prior experience includes over two decades as President of USC Radio Group, where Brenda revitalized classical radio services in Southern California, and leadership roles at Cincinnati Classical Public Radio and Eastern Public Radio. Brenda holds a Doctorate in Planning and Development Studies from the University of Southern California and multiple degrees in music and musicology from the University of Notre Dame, Michigan State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
