Clean Air Council
Alice Lu, MPH, currently serves as a Policy Coordinator at Clean Air Council since August 2023. Prior to this role, Alice worked as a Research Assistant at Yale Human Nature Lab from February 2022 to August 2023 and completed an internship as a Carbon-Free Buildings Intern at RMI from May 2022 to August 2022. Additional experience includes a Policy Analyst Intern position at the National Center for Healthy Housing in summer 2021 and undergraduate research roles at UCLA Institute of Society and Genetics as well as within the Carceral Ecologies Laboratory. Alice began professional development as a Library Student Research Assistant at UCLA Powell Library, fostering research skills for students and faculty. Academic credentials include a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences from Yale School of Public Health, a Bachelor's degree in Human Biology & Society and Sociology from UCLA, and a high school education from Phillips Academy and Hong Kong International School.
Clean Air Council
The Clean Air Council is a member-supported, nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to protecting everyone's right to breathe clean air. The Council works through public education, community advocacy, and government oversight to ensure enforcement of environmental laws. The Council was founded in 1967 by a group of forward-looking community leaders, policy makers, and progressive business leaders. Headquartered in Philadelphia, the Council made a name for itself by the mid-1970s as the result of two major achievements: establishing and distributing a daily regional air quality index report (still used to this day); and forcing Pennsylvania to implement its vehicle emissions testing program. The Council has now grown to include 8,000 members and expanded its programmatic focus to include children’s environmental health, energy, climate change, waste and recycling, and transportation. The Council has also established an indoor air quality resource center for the public and holds the Philadelphia area’s largest Earth Day event, the annual Run for Clean Air.
