Blythe Layton is a Senior Research Program Manager at Clean Water Services since September 2020, overseeing the Molecular Biology laboratory and utilizing genomic technologies to tackle issues related to wastewater treatment, water quality, biodiversity, and wastewater surveillance. Prior to this role, Blythe served as a Research Program Manager at Oregon State University, where monitoring of wastewater for SARS-CoV-2 was conducted. Previous experience includes a position as a Scientist at the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project, leading field projects and managing grant proposals, as well as a Research Assistant role at the Portland VA Research Foundation. Blythe holds a PhD and MS in Environmental Engineering & Science from Stanford University and a BA with honors in Biology from Whitman College.
