Tremaan Spearman

Product Development Engineer at ClearCam

Tremaan Spearman has a strong background in biomedical engineering and medical device design. Tremaan started their career in 2014 as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at Draper, where they utilized SOLIDWORKS and additive manufacturing techniques to design tissue scaffolds for kidney proximal tubules. Tremaan then moved on to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as an EBICS Researcher, where they fabricated tough hydrogels for medical applications and conducted mechanical tests to characterize their properties.

In 2016, Tremaan joined Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Product Design Engineer, leading the design of laboratory safety equipment and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team through the full product lifespan. Tremaan also served as a Medical Device Designer, utilizing SOLIDWORKS to design a novel bone screw and collaborating with patent lawyers and manufacturing partners for device development.

Tremaan continued their education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they worked as a Graduate Research Fellow. During this time, they designed a ventilation system for premature neonates with diaphragmatic hernia and led experimental workstreams for undergraduates in conducting tests of plant tissues for tissue regeneration scaffolds.

In 2015, Tremaan returned to Draper as a Biomedical Engineer, where they redesigned the fabrication process for an intracochlear drug delivery device and led design meetings as a manufacturing and development partner. Tremaan also collaborated with external partners in the early-stage development of a pediatric expandable heart valve.

Tremaan's most recent role, starting in 2020, is as a Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin. Here, they have led technical workstreams for a team of undergraduate researchers, developed a microfluidic system for the Blood Brain Barrier, drafted a grant proposal, and conducted experiments to test their hypothesis of preventing Covid-19 induced neurological dysfunction.

Currently, Tremaan is scheduled to start in 2023 as a Product Development Engineer at ClearCam Inc.

Tremaan Spearman's education history begins in 2013, when they enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Tremaan studied in this program until 2017.

In 2020, Spearman furthered their education by joining The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering. Tremaan completed this program in 2022.
