Alexander Lawson

Alexander Lawson is the current Head of Data at Clearco. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Data Science at Koalafi from September 2017 to January 2021. In this role, they led the entire data science team (India + US) as a part of a broader leadership role within Koalafi. Alexander and their team focused on tackling complex problems across the business from fraud and credit risk to compliance automation and growth. This included designing models and policies for Koalafi's lease & loan products. In this role, Lawson expanded the data science team's reach across the organization and supported a data driven culture. The risk models & policies built under their tenure remained stable & in production for over 18 months.

Lawson's other responsibilities have included managing & writing year end reviews, hiring & staffing both junior & senior associates within data science & analytics, building & designing architecture for new product offerings, and managing production systems including outage monitoring, system stability, load testing, and all code owner responsibilities. Alexander has also worked closely with product + engineering to launch new features & leverage data science in production.

Alexander Lawson's educational career began with him earning an Advanced Studies Diploma from Colonial Heights High School. Alexander then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from the University of Richmond.
