Michael Kalagian Jr. has over 20 years of experience in the engineering industry. Michael began their career in 1998 as a Sr. Engineer - V6/V8 Engine Development at International Truck and Engine (FNA Navistar). In 2004, they became a Sr. Project Engineering Consultant - Diesel EGR Coolers at Senior Flexonics. Michael then moved to Kubota Engine America Corp. in 2006, where they served as the Emissions Compliance Manager and Sr. Applications Engineer. In 2009, they began teaching Engineering Technology at Triton College. In 2012, they became a Senior Product Engineer at Roush Industries, where they worked on Navistar Class 6 truck Fuel System design for Cummins ISL-G, CNG engine application and Transmission Cooling System design for Allison 3000 and 4000 automatic transmissions. From 2013 to 2017, they worked as a Senior Product Engineer - Consultant at Aerotek, specing out large bore Diesel engines for nuclear and military applications. In 2017, they joined Briggs & Stratton as a Sr. Engineer, Safety & Emissions Compliance. Michael is currently employed at ClearFlame Engine Technologies as a Sr. Project Engineer, Engine Integration & Plant Safety and Compliance Manager.

Michael Kalagian Jr. attended Morton College from 1982 to 1985, where they obtained a Certificate of Automotive Technology in Gasoline and Diesel Engines. Michael then attended Triton College from 1986 to 1988, and then the University of Illinois Chicago from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. In 2003 and 2004, they completed course work toward a Masters degree in MEES (Master of Engineering, Engine Systems) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including an IDPR Fundementals of Engineering (FNA E.I.T.) from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in 1993, and ASE A1-A9 Master Automotive Technician, ASE L1 Automotive Advanced Engine Performance & Tune-up, ASE L2 Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis & Tune-up, ASE T1 H.D. Gasoline Engine Repair Technician, and ASE T2 Diesel Engine Repair Technician from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in 2016. Michael also has certifications from the Detroit Diesel Corporation in Series 50 Tear-down & Rebuilding and Series 60 Tear-down & Rebuilding.
