Nikos Karavas

Senior Controls Engineer at ClearMotion

Nikos Karavas is an experienced Senior Controls Engineer who has worked in various roles in the engineering field since 2011. In 2019, they joined ClearMotion as a Senior Controls Engineer. In 2017, they joined the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering as a Staff Research Engineer, where they led the development of algorithms and control systems for soft wearable robots in various applications. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2017, they worked at Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences as a Research Associate and Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they co-led the development of next generation soft wearable robots to augment soldier locomotion within the DARPA Warrior Web Program. From 2011 to 2014, they worked at the Italian Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Fellow, where they explored new actuation concepts and novel bio-inspired control strategies.

Nikos Karavas has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Robotics from the Italian Institute of Technology. Nikos also has experience as a Visiting Student at RWTH Aachen University in Electrical & Computer Engineering, as well as a Diploma (M.Sc.) in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Patras.
