Yuan Xue

Bioinformatics Scientist II at Clearnote Health

Yuan Xue is currently a Bioinformatics Scientist at ClearNote Health (formerly Bluestar Genomics). Prior to this, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at Quake Lab, Stanford University from 2016-2022. During this time, they were interested in expanding understanding of living systems using a combination of bioinformatics and high-throughput experimental approaches, and was investigating the biology at the interface of mammalian host cells and invasive parasites using single-cell technology. From 2018-2022, Yuan Xue was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Stanford University School of Engineering, and from 2017-2018 they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the same institution. From 2014-2016, they were a Graduate Student at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where they investigated physical and biochemical principles underlying two dimensional phase separation of multivalent proteins. From 2014-2016, Yuan Xue was a Post-baccalaureate Research Fellow at the Department of Biology, Reed College, where they received the Larry Reuben research fellowship to investigate envelope stress response of enteropathogenic E. coli and virulence regulation. Yuan was also a Teaching Assistant and Academic Tutor at the same institution. From 2013-2014, Yuan Xue was a Thesis Advisee at Professor Mellies' Lab, where they investigated how envelope stress affects type III secretion system (T3SS) assembly and regulation in enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC). From 2011-2013, they were an Academic Tutor at Reed College, and from 2013-2014 they were an Undergraduate Reseacher at Professor Smolke's Lab, where they rationally designed and tested miRNA-based and ribozyme-based devices to control mammalian cell cycle. Yuan was also a Research Volunteer at Professor McClellan's Lab in 2013.

Yuan Xue has a diverse educational background. Yuan obtained a High School Diploma from La Salle Catholic College Preparatory in 2010 and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biology from Reed College in 2014. Yuan then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Stanford University from 2015 to 2017. From 2015 to 2021, Yuan Xue completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering at Stanford University. Yuan also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Stanford University School of Engineering in 2022. Additionally, Yuan Xue was certified in PADI Open Water SCUBA in 2012.
