Sébastien von Rohr

Mechanism design and AIT Engineer at ClearSpace

Sébastien von Rohr has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Sébastien is currently working as a Mechanism Design and AIT Engineer at ClearSpace since November 2021. Prior to that, they worked at APCO Technologies SA for five years, starting in December 2016. At APCO Technologies SA, their roles included Structural Engineer and Test Engineer. As a Structural Engineer, they were responsible for calculating structural resistance and dimensioning structures using analytical methods and finite element analysis. As a Test Engineer, they reviewed test procedures, conducted functional and proof load testing, and wrote test reports.

Before joining APCO Technologies SA, Sébastien worked at RUAG as part of their master's thesis from February 2016 to August 2016. Their thesis focused on designing and setting up a testing facility for the ExoMars Rover, measuring its locomotion capabilities. Sébastien also worked as an R&D Intern at senseFly from September 2015 to February 2016, where they participated in the design, prototyping, and testing of structural elements for integrating payloads on drones.

Sébastien's earlier experiences include a mechanical machining internship at Meca-Test SA in 2012, where they gained skills in CNC programming and machining techniques. Sébastien also worked as a Heating System Installer at Christen Chauffage in 2010, where they were involved in designing and installing heating systems and integrating solar panels.

Overall, Sébastien von Rohr has developed expertise in structural engineering, test engineering, mechanical design, and integration through their varied work experiences in the engineering industry.

Sébastien von Rohr's education history is as follows:

From 2009 to 2016, Sébastien attended EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) where they obtained a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering & Space Technologies.

Prior to that, from 2006 to 2009, Sébastien studied at Collège Claparède and received a Maturité gymnasiale degree in the field of scientific studies.
