CU Life Sciences Outreach Center Intern at Clemson University

Emalie Houk has been serving as an intern at the CU Life Sciences Outreach Center at Clemson University since August 2018, where responsibilities include developing educational tools for students, managing laboratory maintenance, and supporting outreach events. Emalie has engaged in research related to medical device reprocessing practices in Tanzania, focusing on data collection to enhance further research opportunities. Additionally, Emalie has collaborated on low-resource medical device design, presenting findings at a bioengineering symposium in Tanzania. Previous experience as a resident assistant involved managing administrative tasks and promoting personal growth through diverse programming. Emalie has also contributed as a camp counselor at Youth Bridge Camp since June 2015, leading activities and coaching campers. Emalie holds a Bachelor of Science in Genetics with a minor in Anthropology from Clemson University, obtained in 2021.
