Chitra Akileswaran

Chitra Akileswaran is the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Cleo. Chitra was previously at Harvard Medical School, Alameda Health System, and Kyruus. At Kyruus, they were the Medical Director and led provider engagement and clinical strategy in both internal- and external-facing capacities. Chitra was also the SME and physician lead for sales and customer success efforts, product development, and implementations with large scale health systems. Prior to Kyruus, they were a finance consultant at Partners In Health where they developed a ground-up, dynamic model of operational costs for Partners in Health’s new hospital facility in Mirebalais, Haiti. Chitra has also worked as an associate at McKinsey & Company and Centre for Development Finance. In 2004, they were a Fulbright Scholar to South Africa through the U.S. Department of State.

Chitra Akileswaran completed a residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. Chitra earned their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Harvard Medical School and their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Harvard Business School. Chitra has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Community Health from Brown University. Chitra is certified by the California Health Care Foundation as a Healthcare Leadership Fellow and by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology as Board Certified.
