Lisen Xu has over 10 years of work experience in the optical engineering field. In 2007, they began working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Rochester, where they pioneered a revolutionary new technology for non-invasive vision correction using femtosecond lasers. In 2012, they were an Optical Engineer Intern at Sigma Space Corporation, where they performed damage threshold tests and characterized the optical properties of holograms used for air-borne 3D Mapping Lidar. Lisen also developed and implemented an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm for Lidar detection of weather conditions. In 2013, they became an Optical Engineer at Optikos Corporation, where they were the project lead for MTF testing systems from visible through LWIR, and designed and built a UV MTF testing system. In 2017, they joined Clerio Vision, Inc. as VP of Applied Research and Director of Applied R&D, where they lead the R&D teams to transform research ideas into product development. Lisen also oversees the operation of R&D labs and projects across programs to develop the next generation vision correction products, in refractive surgery, cataract surgery or contact lenses.
Lisen Xu obtained a B.S. in Physics from Beijing Normal University between 1999 and 2003. Lisen then went on to receive an M.S. in Optics from Beijing Normal University between 2003 and 2006. Lastly, they completed a Ph.D. in Optics/Optical Sciences from the University of Rochester between 2006 and 2013.
