Gray Hoffman has a long and varied work experience. In 2017, they were the COO of Clerkie, an AI Financial Planner for underserved Americans. From 2013 to 2017, they held several roles at Grovo, including VP of Business Operations, Senior Director of Business Operations, Director of Business Operations, and Growth Analyst. In 2011, they worked as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company, as a Volunteer at Be Equal Development Partners, and as an Operations Intern at MediConnect. In 2010, they worked in Corporate Finance at Ernst & Young. In 2009, they were a Research Intern at Interdisciplinary Research Consultants, where they conducted market research and wrote a report that was incorporated into the US consumer services best prospects sector of their publication, as well as researched and wrote an institutional needs assessment and best practices policy on the water and sanitation training facilities in the Kurdish territory of Iraq. In 2008, they were a Cofounder of Gray & Dan's Dream Cream. Finally, from 2002 to 2008, they worked as a Family Mediator at Peace Council Parent-Teen Mediation.

Gray Hoffman attended Davidson College, where they studied Economics. Gray then went on to The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to further their studies in Economics. Lastly, they attended The Lakeside School.
