Director Of School & Family Learning at Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Renata Brown, M.A. has extensive experience in the education and museum sectors. Renata is currently the Director of School & Family Learning at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History since September 2019. Prior to this, they were the Senior VP and Co-Founder of R + R Learning Strategists, LLC, where they provided consulting services on learning strategies, curriculum development, and teacher mentorship. From 2016 to 2019, Renata served as the Director of Program Operations at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland, overseeing various programs. Renata also worked as a National Leadership Grants for Museums Peer Reviewer at the Institute of Museum and Library Services in 2016, where they reviewed grant requests. Renata has held leadership positions at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, including Vice President of Education from 2013 to 2016 and Associate Director of Education from 2004 to 2013. Additionally, they have experience as an Education/Volunteer Coordinator at the Luthy Botanical Garden from 2000 to 2004 and as an Assistant Curator of Education at The Toledo Zoo from 1994 to 2000.

Renata Brown, M.A. obtained a Diploma from Brunswick High School in 1989. Renata then completed their Bachelor's degree in Biology at The University of Toledo from 1989 to 1993. In 2004, Renata earned their Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Bradley University. Currently, they are pursuing their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Urban Education at Cleveland State University, expected to be completed in 2024. Renata also holds several additional certifications, including a Youth Mental Health First Aid USA Instructor certification obtained in 2018 and a Social & Behavioral Research Investigators certification from the CITI Program obtained in 2021. Renata has also completed various Coursera Course Certificates related to leadership and coaching.
