Angela Ammons has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. ANGELA started their career as an RN at Southeast Georgia Health System, where they provided direct nursing care in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and played a role in the Rapid Response and Code Blue team. ANGELA also served as a preceptor for new students and hires.
Ammons then worked as a Critical Care RN at Southeast GA Health Systems for three years before joining Mayo Health Systems as a Float Pool RN. At Mayo, they successfully managed complex projects and directed the opening of two new Med Surg units. ANGELA also served as the Nurse Manager for Med Surg and Special Projects, overseeing a team of medical professionals and leading the Nursing Clinical Practice Committee.
After Mayo, Ammons joined Memorial Satilla as the Nursing Director for Behavioral Health. In this role, they focused on patient care and developed systems and care standards for a fiscally sound environment. ANGELA also facilitated a Joint Commission Inspection with zero citations.
Currently, Ammons is serving as the CEO of Clinch Memorial Hospital. ANGELA was hired during a crisis period when the hospital was facing financial difficulties, and successfully led a turn-around effort. Under their leadership, the hospital went from a $700,000 loss in 2017 to a net income of $700,000+ in the first year. ANGELA also developed new programs and community outreach initiatives, leading to the hospital being awarded HomeTown Health's Hospital of the Year in 2019.
Angela Ammons began their education journey in 2004 at the College of Coastal Georgia, where they pursued an Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. ANGELA completed their studies in 2007. In 2014, Angela enrolled at Western Governors University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, concluding their studies in 2016.
Seeking further education and career advancement, Angela pursued a Master of Nursing degree with a specialization in Leadership and Management at Western Governors University. ANGELA began their studies in 2018 and remained enrolled until 2023.
Angela's educational pursuits extended beyond the field of healthcare. In an effort to expand their knowledge and expertise, they pursued a Healthcare Certificate from Emory University's Goizueta Business School. This program focused on Clinical, Hospital, and Managed Care Pharmacy. Angela completed this certificate program in 2021.
