Wilson Mtotela has worked in the field of Quality Assurance since 2004. Wilson began their career as Quality Manager/ Schemes Coordinator at the Zimbabwe National Quality Assurance Program (ZINQAP). In this role, they supervised laboratory scientists in the preparation of PT panels and conducted laboratory visits. Wilson also developed, implemented and revised the ISO17043 Quality Management System, identified and resolved client Quality Assurance problems, liaised with international Quality Assurance bodies, and planned PT shipments and panels.
In 2011, Wilson Mtotela joined the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) as Regional Contract Manager. In this role, they provided mentorship to Medical Laboratories in the Southern African Region towards ISO 15189 accreditation in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Wilson also developed training materials and trained more than 100 ISO 15189 QMS mentors in these countries, and supervised trainee mentors for the ISO 15189 laboratory accreditation.
In 2014, Wilson Mtotela joined SADCAS as ISO 15189 Team Lead. In this role, they developed strategies for the mentorship of laboratories and solutions facing laboratories towards accreditation.
Wilson Mtotela holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Walden University, which they obtained in 2020. Wilson also holds a Master of Business Administration and a Health Care Business and Medical Law Specialist certification, both of which they obtained in 2016.
