George Ionita

Head of Engineering at CLIPr

George Ionita has extensive experience in software development and engineering. George is currently the Managing Partner of Synaflux, a company they co-founded in 2020. George's role at Synaflux involves leveraging their expertise in building solutions, products, and teams to help small and large companies achieve their potential through technology.

In 2022, George joined The Room as the Head of Engineering. Prior to this, they worked at CLIPr as the Head of Engineering, where they made their vision of surfacing video intelligence a reality. George laid the architecture for the system using AWS state-of-the-art serverless architecture, which resulted in minimal maintenance and operational costs.

Before CLIPr, George held multiple positions at Ateliere Creative Technologies (formerly Ownzones Entertainment Technologies). George served as a Technology Advisor starting in 2021, CTO Europe from 2017 to 2021, and Software Architect from 2016 to 2017. During their time at Ateliere, George worked on reviving the company's OTT platform, internalizing and stabilizing backend APIs and mobile/web apps, and building a cross-platform subscriptions system.

George's earlier experiences include working as a Software Architect at PeopleGraph from 2014 to 2016, where they focused on batch processing data pipelines and distributed crawling systems. George also served as a Software Architect at SIEN Solutions from 2012 to 2014, where they rebuilt backend APIs and scaled ad serving infrastructure. At Seesmic from 2010 to 2012, George led the development of various products and built a high-performing team. Prior to that, they worked as a Technical Lead at Essensys Software from 2008 to 2010 and as a Senior Software Developer at Simpology-simplifying technology from 2007 to 2008.

George's career began at TechTeam Akela in 2006, where they started as a Junior Software Developer and contributed to a complex project in the events and ticketing business, utilizing emerging technologies such as Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and the .NET Framework.

Throughout their career, George Ionita has consistently demonstrated their expertise in software development, engineering leadership, and building scalable and efficient systems.

George Ionita attended Colegiul National de Informatica "Tudor Vianu" from 1999 to 2003, where they pursued a degree in Computer Science. Following this, from 2003 to 2008, they studied at Universitatea Politehnica Bucuresti, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science.
