Samantha Blasbalg

Samantha Blasbalg has a diverse work experience in the field of quality engineering and software engineering. Samantha started their career as a Graphics Quality Engineer Intern at MathWorks, where they supported the graphics and charting team and developed new test suites for the graphics charting testbed. Samantha then moved on to become a Graphics Quality Engineer, where they designed and supervised the implementation of key graphics testing infrastructure and tested and qualified features and bug fixes in charting and interaction spaces. After that, Samantha worked as a Test Framework Quality Engineer at MathWorks, participating in design and feature planning for the MATLAB Unit test framework and executing the testing strategy. Samantha also authored and delivered training content for company-wide quality engineer training.

In 2018, Samantha joined Wistia as a Quality Engineer, where they converted the entire end-to-end test suite from Nightwatch to TestCafé, improving build time by 65%. Samantha also reviewed the backlog for validity and closed a significant number of issues. Samantha then became a Senior Quality Engineer at Wistia, leading quality efforts for multiple product launches and being involved in the migration from a home-grown billing system to using Stripe. In their role as a Senior Software Engineer at Wistia, Samantha spearheaded a project to convert the end-to-end test suite from TestCafé to Cypress.io and worked with tech leads to optimize test bed and assisted teams in taking ownership of tests in their product areas.

Samantha Blasbalg obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Rhode Island, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Following that, they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University from 2008 to 2014.
