Head Of Business Development at Closed Loop Medicine

Irene Patzak has an extensive background in business development and research in the field of cancer. Irene is currently the Head of Business Development at Closed Loop Medicine since June 2020. Prior to this, they were a Business Development Executive at Cancer Research UK (CRUK) from April 2018 to May 2020, where they focused on the in-licensing of pre-clinical assets for the Clinical Development Partnership (CDP) scheme and managed clinical collaborations. Irene also worked as a Business Development Manager at Cancer Research Technology from November 2014 to March 2018, and as a Project Development Manager from January 2013 to November 2014. Before entering the business development field, Irene had extensive research experience. Irene worked as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at Lund University in 2012 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cancer Research UK from November 2007 to November 2011, where they made significant contributions to cancer research through publications and collaborations. Irene also obtained their PhD degree (magna cum laude) from the University of Muenster, where they conducted research at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine. During their PhD, Irene demonstrated excellent project planning and communication skills, resulting in the successful completion of their thesis and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Irene Patzak obtained their Diplom (Masters in Biological Science) degree from The University of Bonn, where they studied Genetics and Immunology from 1996 to 2002. During their time at The University of Bonn, they also completed an Erasmus semester at the University of East Anglia, focusing on Apoptosis, Biochemistry, and Cell Biology from 2000 to 2001. Irene then pursued a Master Thesis at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) from 2001 to 2002. Irene Patzak furthered their education at the Max-Planck Institute for molecular Biomedicine in Germany, where they completed their PhD in Immunology and Cell Signalling from 2003 to 2007.
