Bonghun(Bruce) Shin, Ph.D. has worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Cloud DX since 2019. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2018 to 2019 and a Postdoctoral Fellow and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Waterloo from 2011 to 2018. From 2005 to 2011, they were a Mechanical Engineer (Manager, Senior Engineer) at Samsung Heavy Industries. Bonghun(Bruce) was responsible for managing the wind turbine division, leading the mechanical components parts with a team of 9 members, and developing mechanical components for wind turbine 2.5MW within 2 years with GL certification. From 1997 to 2005, they were a Mechanical Engineer (Assistant Manager, Research Engineer) at Otis Elevator. In this role, they participated in the machine room-less elevator project (Gen2 extended duty) to launch East Asia Market region, designed the robust guide roller and counter weight, and conducted vibration test and structural FEA.

Bonghun(Bruce) Shin, Ph.D. began their educational journey in 2001 when they earned their Master of Science in Mechanical Design from Pusan National University. Bonghun(Bruce) then continued their studies at the same university and became a PhD candidate in Mechanical Design Engineering from 2005 to 2008. After that, they moved to the University of Waterloo and earned their Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering in 2013. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2017.
