Rich Mogull

Rich Mogull currently serves as the Chief Analyst at the Cloud Security Alliance, starting in October 2025, and is a faculty member at IANS since May 2008, focusing on various security domains. Additionally, Rich has held roles as the Security Editor at TidBITS and CEO/Researcher at Securosis, contributing to the IT industry analysis of information security and risk. Experience includes serving as a paramedic with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since 2001, holding the position of SVP of Cloud Security at FireMon from April 2022 to September 2025, and founding DisruptOps while also serving as its CISO from April 2015 to August 2022. Contributions as a writer for Dark Reading spanned from 2007 to August 2022, and Rich served as Research Vice President at Gartner from February 2000 to August 2007. Educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in History and Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder.
