Alexa Lopez has a diverse work experience starting in 2018 as a GIS Spatial Analyst Intern at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. In 2019, they worked as a Research Analyst at the Institute of Government Innovation and concurrently served as a Graduate Assistant at Texas State University. Their work at Texas State University continued until January 2022. In 2021, Alexa joined NASA as an Assistant Fellow, where they facilitated the DEVELOP term and provided assistance and feedback on coding software for team members. Alexa then transitioned to a role as a DEVELOPer, working on a contract with the City of Austin to develop maps using census and NASA's earth observation data to identify vulnerable communities. Alexa's most recent role is as a Remote Sensing Analyst at Floodbase, starting in November 2021. Throughout their work experience, they have gained skills in various areas such as remote sensing analysis, GIS, technical writing, and collaboration tools like GitHub and Jupyter with Python.
