Sandra Routhier

Sandra Routhier has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry, spanning over three decades. Sandra has held various positions and roles throughout their career.

Starting in 1985, Sandra worked as a Health Record Analyst at Genesys Health System, where they performed utilization review, coding, abstracting, and quality reviews. Sandra also trained new Health Record Analysts.

In 1988, Sandra joined Spectrum Health as a Medical Records Supervisor and Utilization Review Coordinator. Sandra was responsible for various functions, including utilization review, coding, abstracting, quality reviews, and training new employees.

From 1990 to 2016, Sandra worked at War Memorial Hospital and held several positions, including Revenue Cycle Director, HIM Director, and Information Systems Director. Their responsibilities included HIPAA Privacy Officer, medical staff QA, core measures abstracting and reporting, Meditech implementation, dictionary building, end-user training, and NPR report writing.

In 2010, Sandra served as a Clinical Juror at the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology.

Sandra joined Panacea Healthcare Solutions in 2011 as a Senior Healthcare Consultant. Their work involved inpatient MS-DRG and coding audits, CDI audits, physician documentation improvement projects, and I-10 documentation gap reviews. Sandra also contributed to publications and education through webcasts and articles.

From 2013 to the present, Sandra has been working as an independent consultant for HIMpoint. Their role includes performing MS-DRG, APR-DRG, inpatient coding, and physician documentation audits. Sandra also provides education and training to coding and CDI professionals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Since 2015, Sandra has been serving as the SVP Auditing Services at Cloudmed, an R1 company. Their role involves specializing in inpatient coding and documentation, providing coding review and education for reimbursement, accuracy, and compliance assurance.

Throughout their career, Sandra has been actively involved in the healthcare industry, contributing to the improvement of coding accuracy and documentation practices.

Sandra Routhier, RHIA, CCS, CDIP pursued their education at various institutions. Sandra earned a Bachelor of Science degree in HIM from the University of Cincinnati from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they studied nursing at Lake Superior State University from 1998 to 2003. In the early years of their academic journey, they pursued an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree with a focus on Health Information/Medical Records Technology/Technician at Ferris State University from 1983 to 1985.
